The provincial government is pouring $6 million into childcare in the province.
Five-hundred new spaces will open up in 15 communities throughout Saskatchewan.
Twenty of those spaces will be added to Prince Albert, while 15 more are earmarked for Stony Rapids.
Education Minister Donna Harpauer says they are hoping to use the local school there as a support:
“If we can, what we’re going to try to do is base it with the school — and we’re not sure yet — but we know that they need some spaces, so we’re looking for that space. And if we can link it to the school, that would be perfect.”
She adds the spaces will open once all the infrastructure is in place.
