Dry, windy weather has caused several fires to break out in the province.
Fire manager Scott Waselenchuk says crews are fighting eight of the blazes while two more are under initial attack.
At this point he describes the blazes as “contained”, and says they’re not threatening any communities.
He notes the weather is not helping matters:
“Well weather wise, of course this time of year, things have really dried out. We have lots of dead fuel, dried grass from last summer and generally speaking we’re at an extreme level right across the forest area.”
He reminds residents to take care when out in the bush as most fires this time of year are started by people.
