Mounties Taking Another Look at Darrell Night Case

The RCMP has decided to take another look at the Darrell Night case.
The Mounties have confirmed they are now looking into MP Maurice Vellacott’s assertions that there is new evidence that might exonerate the two former cops convicted in the case.
Depending on what they find, the RCMP might decide to re-open the investigation, but spokeswoman Heather Russell says they’re not at that stage yet.
She says the RCMP has received a written submission from Vellacott and the force is weighing whether it’s enough to re-open the file.
Dan Hatchen and Ken Munson were convicted of unlawful confinement in 2001 after being found guilty of taking Night to the outskirts of Saskatoon in freezing weather and leaving him there.
They were sentenced to 8 months in jail.
Last month, Vellacott said Night was not dropped off against his will, but rather, made the request to the officers in question.
