A woman from the Thunderchild First Nation has been named one of 12 national Aboriginal role models for 2012.

Audrey Armstrong is taking the role very seriously.  She has already visited several First Nations in Saskatchewan telling students how education has changed her life.

Armstrong is a single mother of three boys, she is in her third year at university and plans to get a master’s degree in social work.

The National Aboriginal Health Organization’s role model program was created in 2004 to celebrate the accomplishments of First Nations, Inuit and Metis youth.

Audrey says she had role models growing up, and that made a big difference in her life.

Madelaine McCallum, a Metis from Ile-a-la-Crosse, is the other Saskatchewan resident to be chosen by NAHO as a role model for 2012.
