RCMP say charges are possible following the death of a two-year-old girl on the Red Earth First Nation.

The incident was reported around 1:00 p.m. Sunday.

Police say the female driver of a minivan — a friend of the family — struck and killed the girl while turning left into a driveway.

The child’s mother performed CPR, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the death is not considered criminal, and alcohol was not involved.

However, charges under the Traffic Safety Act are being considered, and the investigation is still ongoing.

The name of the child is not being released.
