RCMP say the child who was run over by a parade float in Preeceville over the weekend had just celebrated his eighth birthday.
The boy was from Prince Albert and was riding on a float that was being pulled by a half-ton truck.
He jumped off the front of the float, fell and was run over.
Two nurses on another float provided first aid and the child was rushed to hospital, but he died a short time later.
The tragedy took place during a parade celebrating Preeceville’s 100th anniversary.
RCMP are continuing their investigation.
Criminal charges are not likely.
