Pelican Narrows is filled with visitors this week.
They are in the community for the 5th Annual Woodland Cree Gathering.
Opening ceremonies begin at 1 p.m. today.
Chiefs from bands within the Woodland Cree area, FSIN vice-chiefs, and provincial politicians are all expected to be in attendance.
Co-ordinator Brian McCallum says there are some pretty big issues to tackle — including the FSIN’s Election Act and Senate Act, and the topic of natural resources.
Canoe races are also planned, along with a fish derby and activities for the kids.
The event runs until Friday.
