An event is taking place this weekend in northern Saskatchewan aimed at raising awareness over nuclear power.

The Survival Celebration Camp for Sustainable Earth is being put on by the Committee for Future Generations.

Candyce Paul is part of the group’s executive.

She says northerners don’t know much about nuclear power or other power alternatives.

Paul says this camp will give them that knowledge:

“We decided we could put together a camp in our own environment and own way to give them a chance to learn about the issue and another chance to learn about other forms of economy that are more sustainable.”

The camp will be located 30 km north of the Beauval Forks, at Veteran’s Park in South Bay.

Paul says people from as far away as Victoria, Germany and Texas are expected to attend the camp.
