It has been in operation for 30 years, and now there is a new man to lead the Regina Food Bank into the future.

Steve Compton has been appointed the new CEO.

Compton has been the director of operations for the food bank for the last seven years.

He says he is looking forward to serving the community in this exciting new role.

Compton takes over from Wayne Hellquist, who announced earlier this year he was stepping down after serving as CEO for the past 10 years.

The Regina Food Bank was established in 1982 under the guidance of Ed Bloos.

At the time, it was only the second food bank in Canada.

Since then, it has had only three chief executive officers, including Compton.
