The baby of a Poundmaker First Nation woman was born on the way to hospital in the Battlefords over the weekend.
WPD Ambulance operations manager Jason Toovey says it all began at about 5:05 a.m Sunday.
They got a call from the Cut Knife Ambulance asking them to take a patient for them on Highway 40.
“Our staff took over care of the patient, and at 5:20, the baby boy was born.”
Both mother and child are said to be doing fine.
Toovey estimates WPD personnel deliver a baby en route to hospital roughly once a year.
