It has taken six months, but a North Battleford group now has a tentative crime fighting strategy in place.
It’s modelled on the one in Prince Albert — with police, representatives of Social Services, and other agencies getting together on cases.
They hope to begin operation in September.
RCMP Cpl. Gertrude Maxwell is the co-ordinator.
Maxwell is pleased with the group’s progress, adding that government and community support is making it happen.
“It’s really nice to see the blend of community mobilization, grassroots action and the government come together to make the community a healthier, safer place. It will happen, and it is happening. It is exciting, to say the least.”
The name for the steering committee that will oversee things is the North Battleford Community Action Plan.
