The official candidates list has been released for the coming Prince Albert Grand Council Athabasca Vice Chief election.
There are six people in the running.
Four candidates are from Fond du Lac — incumbent Don Deranger, Victor Fern, Diane McDonald and Napoleon Mercredi.
The other candidates are Donald Sayazie from Black Lake and Joseph (Smy) Tsannie from Hatchet Lake.
Deranger has held the position since 2003 and is seeking his fifth term in office.
Fern, Mercredi and Sayazie are former chiefs in their home communities.
McDonald is the PAGC’s Athabasca Land Use Panel coordinator, while Tsannie is the grand council’s Athabasca Sports, Culture and Recreation coordinator.
The PAGC Annual Assembly and elections take place October 22nd and 23rd at the Senator Allen Bird Memorial Centre in Prince Albert.
The winner will serve a three-year term.
