A meeting of the minds took place this week between the Hatchet Lake First Nation and SaskPower.

At issue were power bill costs for the First Nation.

SaskPower CEO Robert Waton says the band wanted to make sure they’re not paying more money for power than they should.

He insists the billing is accurate and the band is paying the correct amount:

“We think they are so we’re going to have a complete audit done to ensure the billing is correct and accurate.”

He adds everyone is charged the same rate for power regardless of where they live.

In addition to the audit, staff from SaskPower will also provide the band with ideas on how power can be conserved in the future.
