One person is facing charges after a drug bust at the Big River First Nation.

RCMP say a search warrant was executed at a home on the reserve on Friday.

Sgt. Lyle Korczak says officers found about 300 marijuana joints and over 40 grams of marihuana bud.

He says other drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash was also seized, and the investigation continues:

“There’s a second suspect that we’re still trying to deal with here yet.  In terms of impact in the community, it’s naive to think it’s going to eradicate the supply of drugs completely — but it will disrupt it a little bit.  This is essentially part of the Northern Drug Strategy that the RCMP has right now.”

The street value of the drugs and cash is about $3,000.

The charges include possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.
