A North Battleford high school that combines academics and Aboriginal culture is now 10 years old.

Sakewew High School will be celebrating that birthday tonight with a supper and awards ceremoney in North Battleford’s Gold Ridge Centre.

Colin Sutherland has been the school’s principal for all 10 years.

Sutherland says they couldn’t have done it without support from other local school boards, and from the province:

“Our school holds the highest graduation rate among Aboriginal schools in the country.  And this is because of the partnerships that we have developed within our own community, and the partnerships we have developed in the province.”

However, Sutherland says keeping students in school is still a challenge.
