Aboriginal business leaders are assembling in Ottawa next week.
Monday is the opening day for the Aboriginal Entrepreneurship Conference and Trade show.
Deputy Premiers, oil executives, trade delegates to Asia and a wide swath of other experts are expected to be in attendance.
The event is aimed at giving aboriginal entrepreneurs ideas on how to grow their businesses and letting aboriginal communities know how to tap into major projects.
Kelly Lendsay is the president of the Aboriginal Human Resource Council.
He says resources are a major industry that will be examined:
“You look through the north – it’s bigger than the oilsands. It’s the resource sector across this nation. The resource sector than, there’s a ripple effect into areas of communication, transportation, retail and many other areas as a result of these developments.”
Lendsay says there are 220 major economic projects in Canada right now and aboriginal entrepreneurs need to be able to take advantage of them.
