Fear has eased on the Standing Buffalo First Nation after the arrests of three people accused in a double murder.

21 year-old Brittney Bear, 22 year-old Kody Bear and a 17 year-old male youth are all facing two counts of first-degree murder.

Tensions are still high on the reserve and two security officers remain on duty patrolling the reserve, located about 80 kilometers north-east of Regina.

Early yesterday morning a couple was murdered in their home.

The victims have been identified as  27 year-old Jessica Redman and 28 year-old Sheldon Yuzicappi.

The victims and the accused are all residents of the Standing Buffalo First Nation.

Chief Roger Redman cautions residents not to let anger get the best of them

“We want to ensure that, out of respect for the families — and for our youth, that they let the justice system do its job.  It’s a time of grief, not a time of anger.  We need to get our emotions in check and deal with it in a healthy way.”

The band and the RCMP worked together closely helping one another in the investigation and the arrests.

Meantime the two male suspects are due in court on Monday.

The third suspect, Brittney Bear, has already appeared in court and is due back on Thursday.
