They saved a woman from a burning truck in a two-vehicle crash.
Because of that, three Pelican Narrows men are receiving medals for bravery from Lt. Gov. Vaughn Schofield in Regina today.
Steven Merasty, Kendall Linklater, and Larry Custer came upon a two-vehicle accident near Creighton on January 16, 2011.
Custer heard screams coming from a woman in a smashed truck.
He tried to free her himself, but the smoke was too much.
Custer then asked Merasty and Linklater to help him — and even though there was concern the truck would explode, they eventually freed her.
The woman was transported to hospital, while the three men were treated for smoke inhalation.
Her rescuers are among several provincial residents receiving bravery medals today.
