A Saskatoon police constable is in court later this month charged with assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.

The charges follow an incident involving a 14-year-old who was pepper sprayed and injured while being arrested.

It happened on May 27th in the 1800 of 20th Street West.

Another police constable had been assaulted and the youth matched the description of the suspect.

However, it has not been proven he was the person responsible for the pepper spray attack.

Police say 26-year-old Luke St. Onge has been with the police service for four years and has been suspended with pay pending the criminal proceedings.
