The Native Law Program at the University of Saskatchewan is celebrating 40 years of success.

The program offers an eight-week course on property law to Aboriginal students who are looking at pursuing a legal career.

The director of the program, Ruth Thompson, says it is not easy to recruit Aboriginal law students.

“It is a bit of a daunting task because a lot of Aboriginal students, young people, don’t see the career of law as something open to them.”

About 35 students are currently enrolled in the program.
