Online gaming is coming to Saskatchewan — but it won’t come without a fight.
The government says it is illegal.
However, the man behind it says he welcomes any legal challenge.
The site, called the Northern Bear Casino, will be run out of an office on the White Bear First Nation in southeast Saskatchewan by former chief Bernie Shepherd.
The minister in charge of the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, Donna Harpauer says the government is studying its options:
“As I said, once I see it and what they’re doing, we’ll look at our options at that point in time.”
Shepherd left a senior position at the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations last month to start the online gaming venture.
