An election for chief and council on the Moosomin First Nation is being held today.

Seven people are running for chief – while 42 others are running for the eight seats on council.

The election was called after Aboriginal and Northern Affairs Canada removed Elliot Kahpeaysewat as chief in September.

The federal department says an independent investigator had found there was evidence of vote buying.

Kahpeaysewat denied those allegations and said he would run in the next election but he is not one of the candidates in this election.
