Two proposed projects near Saskatchewan waterways are going under the microscope.

The first one is owned by Shore Gold.

The mining company is hoping to develop a diamond mine east of Prince Albert.

This week it announced it has responded to 82 comments and requests for information that came in about its revised environmental impact statement.

Brady Pollock is a senior administrator with Saskatchewan Environment and he says his department was one of the groups to submit feedback to the company.

“Oh absolutely, they commented on various aspects of the project and there were comments related to various components including water management,” he says.

Pollock wouldn’t get into specifics about these issues but says at some point public information will be available.

Meantime, further up north, four aboriginal groups and one citizen put forward their comments about a proposed hydro dam near Black Lake.

According to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, these comments deal with impacts the Elizabeth Falls Dam could have on water quality, fish habitat and wildlife.

SaskPower hopes to begin construction on the dam sometime next year.
