The Battlefords Tribal Council announced a $40 million expansion to the Gold Eagle Casino area in North Battleford Tuesday.

Policy and Planning Advisor Randy Wallace says the plans involve a new entrance and a non-smoking area.

It will also feature convention facilities and a full-fledged vehicle service area.

Two brand name hotels could also be built there.

The First Nations Heritage Theme Park is also part of the package.

It will be located just east of the casino.

Wallace says the whole complex will create at least 200 jobs and drive business to the Battlefords.

“All of these things bring in more business into the community, more people will come into The Battlefords to patronize all of these new facilities,” he says.

Construction is expected to begin this April and be completed next year.
