The chairman of the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission says he’s not sure why a national action plan hasn’t been created to address violence against Aboriginal women.
David Arnot says Canada’s inability to create such a plan is a national shame.
Today the human rights commission joined forces with the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations and the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan to press Ottawa over the issue.
Arnot says he wants to see a plan created that tries to help Aboriginal girls before they end up getting hurt.
He calls recent stats on the issue absolutely “shocking.”
