The Saskatoon Tribal Council and the Department of Art and Art History signed a partnership agreement at the University of Saskatchewan on Friday morning.
Starting this spring, art history students will begin work on a major piece of art with input from local elders and residential school survivors.
Saskatoon Tribal Council Chief Felix Thomas says the work will be an interpretative piece that will convey what the residential school experience was for many First Nations people to a wider audience.
The partnership signing was part of Aboriginal Achievement Week at the U of S.
