The Gay-Straight Alliance at Sakewew High School in North Battleford has been nominated for a national award.
The award goes to schools which create initiatives to end bullying against lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender people.
It will be given out in Toronto in May.
The University of Saskatchewan has nominated the group for the Canadian Safe School Network/TD Award.
It’s presented to schools that do things to fight bullying against the LGBT community.
Alliance member Kayla Kahpeaysewat says the U of S is pretty familiar with their work, which includes school events, the Pink Revolution, and certification work to become facilitators.
A human rights group is trying to raise money to send four Sakewew students and a teacher to Toronto for the awards.
They would also attend a three-day conference aimed at stopping bullying against the LGBT community.
