The First Nations University of Canada has a new president.
Late Monday afternoon, the school announced that Dr. Doyle Anderson had suddenly resigned.
The reasons for his departure are said to be connected to family and health.
David Sharpe is the school’s chairman.
He says the search for a new president will begin shortly:
“We have a process and a protocol for a selection of executive positions. We will be conducting an international search.”
The school’s vice-president of finance and administration, Juliano Tapone, has been named the university’s interim president.
Tapone hails from the Sweetgrass First Nation.
Meantime, Sharpe succeeds Della Anaquod as chairperson of the school board.
However, he stresses that, unlike Anderson’s departure, Anaquod had been planning to step down for quite some time.
