A northern student at the University of Saskatchewan is being honoured for his fieldwork in biology.

Twenty-four-year-old biology student Jordan Mihalicz, who is from Beauval, has been awarded $500 for receiving the top mark in a field course at the Emma Lake Kenderdine Campus last summer.

Mihalicz, who specializes in the area of aquatic insects, says he definitely enjoys the hands on portion of his field of study.

“Kind of what makes the U of S unique is that they have a biology course that’s also focused on an at home approach to ecology, because we actually go out and explore ecosystems that are here in Saskatchewan,” he says.

Mihalicz graduates this spring and says he plans to pursue a master’s degree in biology at the U of S in the fall.
