An investigation is underway after a 28 year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle on the Wahpeton Dakota First Nation.

The incident was reported to RCMP around 2:40 a.m.

Sergeant Ewen Booth says a woman is in custody and an autopsy is pending:

“They found that the male pedestrian was deceased at the scene.  They did arrest a female…probably safe to say she’s the driver of the vehicle.  She’s been arrested and she’s still in RCMP custody.  The matter is still under RCMP investigation.”

He adds a traffic analyst was sent to the scene to examine the accident.

The crash involved a late 1990’s Cavalier.

No charges have been laid and no names have been released.
