Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation is celebrating 20 years as the province’s Aboriginal radio network today.

Ceremonies are planned for this afternoon at the Napoleon T. Gardiner Broadcast Centre in La Ronge.

Today’s agenda includes tours of the broadcast facility, speeches from northern politicians and MBC executive committee members and presentations for staff members.

MBC was first incorporated in 1983, but aired its first broadcast in 1984.

The network recently expanded into Saskatoon and is now heard in over 60 communities across the province, northern Manitoba and northern Alberta.

MBC is the only radio network in the province to provide news coverage in the English, Cree, Dene and Michif languages.
