Fish, moose-meat and the musical band “C-weed” will all be on the menu this week at a special event in Pinehouse.
Today is the first full day of the Northern Saskatchewan Elders Gathering at the community hall.
Elders will spend the week discussing issues with one another while also showing young people how to prep hides, prepare meals and fillet fish.
Organizer Gaylene Poulin says there should be something for everyone:
“The elders teach the next generation the skills of the north, anything from prepping hide to different ways of doing traditional meats to different ways of fish-filleting and preparing those traditional meats and ways of harvesting are taught to the next generation by the elders of the community.”
The event is alcohol-free.
Poulin says there is an area for tenters and campers.
