Strategies on managing Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder were the topic of discussion at a workshop in Prince Albert on Tuesday.

The FASD Support Network of Saskatchewan hosted the workshop, which took place at the Travelodge Hotel.

The organization’s executive director Leslie Allen says although knowledge is increasing, there is still not a lot known about FASD.

“You know it’s an on going field and people are learning more and more and there’s been more studies and more time being devoted to actually looking at the characteristics and the behaviour of FASD,” she says. “And what are the best ways and strategies to help people gain more independence and be the best they possibly can be.”

Roughly 75 people attended the workshop.

It is estimated about 10 per cent of the Canadian population is affected by FASD.

The workshop has already been to Moose Jaw and Regina and travels to Saskatoon on Wednesday.
