Police in Prince Albert say they’re hoping to meet with the family of an aboriginal man who was shot dead by police officers two weeks ago.
It was on July 9th that the 27 year-old was shot by officers after he allegedly confronted them with a knife.
Sergeant Curtis Halcro says witnesses have been interviewed and forensic samples sent for testing.
At this time however they will not name the officers involved in the shooting:
“That information will come eventually but we’re not at the stage of the investigation where we’re able to release that information at this time.”
The officers are on paid leave.
Halcro stresses the investigation is being overseen by a special investigator from the Ministry of Justice.
The family has asked that the name of the deceased not be released.
