Charges have been laid against two people after a fatal weekend hunting accident in southern Saskatchewan.

RCMP say the incident on the Star Blanket First Nation happened on Sunday evening.

Investigators say a 32-year-old man was shot and killed after being mistaken for an elk by hunters.

It is believed two groups of people were hunting in the same area on the reserve when the accident happened.

The victim’s name has not been released.

Two men are charged with careless use of a firearm and are due in court on October 3.
