SaskEnergy says it has surpassed its goal for natural gas customers in the La Ronge area.
Spokesman Dave Burdeniuk says there was an increase of about 130 residential and commercial hookups this year – bringing the total number of customers in the region to 839.
The stated goal was 800 signups when the expansion was first announced in 2007.
Burdeniuk says SaskEnergy’s approach to natural gas expansion in La Ronge is following the same blueprint it uses for resort communities.
He says the utility is not going to expand into areas where there is currently little or no interest.
However, Burdeniuk notes there is no deadline for future expansion.
He says Eagle Point and the western side of La Ronge Avenue are high on SaskEnergy’s priority list and it’s still possible that both could be serviced by next year.
