The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority has decided to shut off the tipi lights at its casinos across the province.
Vice-President of Corporate Affairs Pat Cook says the move is being made to reduce energy consumption.
Cook says it is one part of SIGA’s overall plan:
“We’ve been very proactive in seeking out environmentally-friendly operational alternatives at all our casinos and at our central office. We have a number of recycling programs in place, like any other organization. Our mantra is “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” — and the tipi lights at our casinos are just another way we can contribute to this.”
Cook says the lights will remain in place, and may be turned on occasionally for special events.
