Flags were raised today in Saskatoon’s City Hall to commemorate relations between the city and the Aboriginal community.
Both the flag for Treaty Six and the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan banner were raised at city hall.
The mayor, Don Atchinson, says it was a symbolic act designed to recognize Treaty Rights and Aboriginal history.
Saskatoon Tribal Chief Felix Thomas says the act promotes inclusion for all.
Treaty Six medals were also presented to Judge David Arnot, former mayor Cliff Wright and current Treaty Commissioner George Lafond for their efforts to help create understanding and respectful relationships.
