Illegal fishing has netted some hefty fines for two Saskatchewan residents.

They were charged after a two-year investigation by Saskatchewan Environment.

Cyril Brock of Saskatoon was fined $3,720 and banned from fishing for three years after pleading guilty to using too many lines, and exceeding limits.

William Tyndall of Chitek Lake was fined $2,950 and banned from fishing for a year on similar charges.

Both men were fined after pleading guilty to the charges in Spiritwood Provincial Court last week.

Two other men were charged in the investigation.

Robert Weal of Chitek Lake was convicted of two counts of angling with too many lines and was fined $650.

Guy Denton of Wilkie was convicted of angling with too many lines and fined $250.
