Aboriginal youth from across Canada took part in an anti-bullying walk this morning in Saskatoon, as part of the Assembly of First Nations youth summit in Saskatoon.
Sixteen-year-old Faith Ketchemonia from Keeseekoose, who is also Miss FSIN, said she wanted to send a message it’s not OK to pick on people.
She says this past year, she faced bullies in her school.
“I was put down because I was going to a non-native school, so people would exclude me from their groups and being friends with them so I just continued to be by myself and I ended up getting out of 10th grade with really, really high marks.”
Ketchemonia encourages youth who are being picked on to stay strong and keep their head up.
This week is National Bullying Awareness Week.
