Tom Jackson and a host of other musical performers will be in Saskatoon this weekend as part of the annual Huron Carole.
The Huron Carole, which takes place at TCU Place on Sunday night, raises money for national food banks.
Saskatoon Food Bank executive director Laurie O’Connor says the event promises to be a great night of fun.
“The Huron Carole is a night of entertainment and storytelling, put on by Tom Jackson and a few of his very famous friends, is just a really fun evening,” she says.
O’Connor adds the event is timely with the holiday season being a difficult time for those in need.
“I think that Christmas can be stressful for everyone in our community but definitely people who are struggling will be looking to make a nice Christmas for their families, so, we do sometimes see numbers go up a little bit in December.”
She says the Huron Carole raised about $5,000 for the Saskatoon Food Bank last year.
Aside from Jackson, other performers include George Canyon, One More Girl, Beverley Mahood and Shannon Gaye.
The event is presented by Great-West Life, London Life, Canada Life and Country Music Television.
The Huron Carole benefit concert series was founded by Tom Jackson in 1987.
Beginning in November, it makes 18 stops throughout Canada.
