An autopsy has been ordered after the deaths of two infant boys yesterday at Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation.
Police were called to a home on the reserve around 10:30 in the morning after reports that the twin boys were not breathing.
Loon Lake RCMP Sergeant Shawn Carter says the two boys were then taken to the local clinic:
“They were taken to the health centre in Loon Lake — we do have a doctor on site there, we do have a clinic — and then, when the two males were transported to the health centre, the doctor attended to them and then he pronounced them dead.”
Carter says the deaths are considered suspicious at this point and the Major Crimes Unit is assisting with the investigation.
The autopsies will be done tomorrow in Saskatoon and no other details on the case have been released.
The Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation is located about 55 kilometers west of Meadow Lake.
