The Provincial government is investing $40,000 in a new program designed to help homeless people in Prince Albert.
The YWCA has been selected to operate the cold weather shelter program out of the Our House shelter facility.
It is designed to give people who are intoxicated a warm bed to sleep in.
Currently most shelters don’t allow anyone inside who is under the influence.
Last year Prince Albert suffered four freezing deaths in the city.
10 beds will be set up in the basement of the facility which is staffed 24 hours a day.
If someone shows up who is highly intoxicated or violent police will be called.
The Northern Lights Community Development Corporation is also donating $50,000 to the project.
