The year 2013 was a good one for Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers and officials hope to further promote the program in the new year.

Last year, about 900 tips were received from the public which led to the recovery of property, dozens of arrests and the apprehension of a number of fugitives.

RCMP Police co-coordinator, Sergeant Rob Cozine, has been working with the program for about five months.

Cozine says he has already visited a few communities and more visits are planned in 2014.

“I have been to North Battleford, Prince Albert, Pelican Narrows, Deschambault, Creighton and I’m hoping once the weather gets better, I want to get into the fly-in communities, Wollaston Lake, Stony Rapids and Fond du Lac, as many places as I can go to,” he says.

Information on how to submit anonymous tips and qualify for cash rewards can be found on the Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers website.

January is internationally recognized as Crime Stoppers month.

There are now more than 1,200 Crime Stoppers programs in over 20 countries around the world.
