North Battleford city council has granted a one-year extension on a deal to transfer land for an aboriginal Heritage theme park.
Council made that decision Monday night.
The original agreement between the City and the Battle River Nations Trade and Tourism Association expires this July.
Among other things, the 16-million-dollar project involves a museum and cultural centre, plus the world’s tallest tee-pee.
Mayor Ian Hamilton says it’s a great project and worth supporting.
“We still think it’s a very desirable project for the city and for tourism in our city so we didn’t see any risk or harm in extending it a year in support of their development.
The one-year extension now expires in July, 2015.
