A temporary homeless shelter in North Battleford could close this Friday due to a lack of funds.
Mayor Ian Hamilton says he’s aware of the situation and is trying to come up with more money.
The shelter is operated by the Battlefords Indian and Metis Friendship Centre.
Friendship Centre officials thought they’d be receiving dollars from the City until the end of March.
But Hamilton says there’s been a funding problem for the city too.
“There are funding issues. We did put out a request for funding to the provincial government which did not come to fruition so there is a shortfall there.”
Hamilton says they’re determined to keep the shelter’s doors open until the end of March.
