The Flying Dust First Nation could be without water for the next two days.

A pipe broke in Meadow Lake this morning forcing the city to shut off water to the entire area.

City manager Diana Burton says crews are working to restore service but it will take time:

“Water could be out for up to two days.  Crews are working on repairing the break.  As soon as it’s repaired we will re-pressurize the system.  There will be a boil-water advisory on for a few days after that once the system is re-pressurized there are tests the system has to pass due to provincial regulations.”

The break occurred in a water-main on Main Street.

Burton says the extreme cold has likely frozen some valves which is one reason why the work is taking so long.
