The University of Saskatchewan will be celebrating Aboriginal Languages next week.
The school has announced that Cree, Michief and Denesuline will all be showcased in a week-long display of Aboriginal pride and culture.
Annie Baptiste works at the Aboriginal Student Centre of the U of S.
She says Cree Perspectives, conversational language workshops, an Aboriginal Entrepreneurs panel and an appearance by Assembly of First Nations chief Shawn Atleo are just some of the activities that are planned.
Baptiste hopes the week promotes tolerance and understanding:
“Well I hope they say that we celebrated Aboriginal student success in all facets, not just academic and that they reflect that there is an Aboriginal presence on this University and we welcome it.”
The relationship between the Aboriginal community and the Christian Church will also be covered.
