The RCMP Major Crimes Unit South is investigating after what are believed to be human remains were found Tuesday afternoon.

Mounties from Punnichy were called to Muskowekwan First Nation around 5 p.m. after a resident of the reserve found the remains not far from his home.

The Office of the Chief Coroner, a Forensic Anthropologist and the Yorkton Forensic Identification Section were also brought to the scene and are working to confirm the remains are human and positively identify them.

No other information on the case has yet been released.
