A veteran RCMP officer is in a Saskatoon hospital recovering from a serious head injury.
Sergeant Craig Cleary says the off-duty officer was involved in an ATV rollover on Bay Road, just outside of Wollaston Lake.
The identity of the officer has not been released.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on the morning of June 10 when he was returning to the community.
Police say an on-duty member from the Wollaston Lake detachment witnessed the crash.
The ATV involved is an RCMP vehicle and investigators are working to find out why it was being used by an off-duty officer.
Investigators also believe the injured officer was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
